Its all about Nature

About
I can't remember a time when I haven't been fascinated by the natural world. I grew up in New Zealand and like so many of my country folk got the travel bug, finally settling in Australia. I still love to travel, but these days I am happy to spend most of my time in the wild places of Australia and New Zealand. Photographing birds and nature allows me to combine my passions.
What's in the bag
These are interesting times with the switch to mirrorless cameras.
Over the next couple of years I expect to switch at least in part to mirrorless cameras. I can't see a complete changeover, as I have so much invested in quality F mount glass. In particular the wonderful Nikon 500mm f/5.6 PF. From the start of my photographic journey I have been a Nikon shooter. I wouldn't describe myself as a fanboy, as I've given serious consideration to switching brands in the past. In particular I have been envious of the quality of Canon's long lenses and their ability to take converters. Most of the images in this website were taken with the Nikon 600mm f/4 G VRII lens. This lens has recently been sold as part of the transition.

Photography is an art
It’s about finding extra-ordinary
In ordinary places
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.
The energy of the mind is the essence of life.
Inspiration does exist, but it must find you working.
